The UWB is hosting an event on Monday, November 10th at 6:00pm in UW1-103. York Bauer, a current Zango and former Microsoft executive, is speaking on How to Survive and Thrive in the World of Free, Ad-supported Internet. The social meeting on November 13th will be held at Sai Mai Thai at 7:30pm. Come socialize with entrepreneurial students and alumni. More details on the restaurant at: http://www.saimairestaurant.com.

On November 20th UWB student Chris Geddes will present UW2 205 his business idea to the network. Below is Chris’s description of his plan:
“A case study was preformed at Redmond High School over the years 2006 and 2007 where students worked with teachers to reduce overall carbon output by 72 tons and saved an estimated $7,500 in energy usage inside of a single year. Currently, the RHS campaign labeled “The Cool School Challenge” led by my old AP Environmental Science teacher, Mike Town, is hoping to double those numbers by the end of this school year. These results were achieved in a state-of-the-art High School constructed in 2003. Some schools around the nation have caught on to this same idea of reducing their carbon footprint and studies have shown averages of 10% energy reductions solely by changing energy usage habits and raising environmental awareness. I plan to privatize and add to this proven concept to allow schools to take their hands off the energy reduction process while we prepare, audit, monitor, educate, and retrofit schools to produce these same (and potentially better) results in areas where environmental consciousness is not on the list of priorities. We guarantee the energy reduction and get paid based on the results.”

There is no meeting on November 27th in observance of Thanksgiving day.
